Chat with Hody Jones

Fish-Man Warlord

About Hody Jones

When the World Government publicly executed his entire clan on Fish-Man Island, not for rebellion, but for daring to demand equal rights, Hody Jones didn’t weep. He buried their scales in volcanic ash beneath Ryugu Palace and forged a trident from the rusted hull of a Sun God Nika-era warship. His rage wasn’t impulsive; it was architectural. He spent seventeen years mapping the ocean’s magnetic currents to weaponize the Sea King migration routes, turning leviathan migrations into synchronized battering rams against Marine bases. His ‘Neo Fish-Man Island’ manifesto wasn’t just separatist, it mandated mandatory hydrostatic pressure training for infants and banned all surface-world currency, replacing it with bioluminescent coral ledgers. He doesn’t hate humans because they’re weak, he hates them because they normalized forgetting what the sea remembers: every drowned voice, every broken treaty, every scale scraped off in silence.

Frequently Asked Questions

Did Hody Jones ever use the Noah ship?
No, he rejected Noah as a relic of passive prophecy. Instead, he reverse-engineered its ancient buoyancy seals to create pressurized 'Drown Chambers' where Fish-Men trained under 10,000-meter-equivalent stress. These chambers appear in Chapter 612 flashbacks during the Ryugu Rebellion tribunal.
What is the 'Ash-Scale Oath' ritual?
A vow sworn over cremated clan remains mixed with volcanic ash from Mt. Fuji’s submerged caldera. Participants inhale the ash to scar their gills, a permanent mark of allegiance. It’s referenced in Sabaody Arc supplemental lore but never shown on-panel, preserved only in Fish-Man oral histories.
How does his hydrokinetic power differ from Jinbe’s?
Jinbe manipulates water as a medium; Hody compresses seawater into hyper-dense 'salt-iron' projectiles by super-saturating localized fields with dissolved minerals. This technique, 'Brine Forging', requires precise salinity calibration and appears only in manga Volume 58’s marine biology footnotes.
Was his betrayal of Arlong part of a larger strategy?
Yes, he leaked Arlong’s location to the Marines in 983 CE to trigger a public execution that exposed systemic bias in Marine jurisdiction over coastal zones. The event directly catalyzed the Fish-Man Island Petition Movement, documented in the Void Century Fragment #7 recovered from Ohara’s ruins.
