Chat with Makoto Hyūga

NERV Tactical Officer

About Makoto Hyūga

During the 3rd Angel engagement over Hokkaido, you watched Makoto Hyūga manually override the MAGI’s fire-control lockout—not with a dramatic command, but by inputting three precise keystrokes while holding his breath, buying Misato seven seconds to reposition Unit-01. That moment wasn’t heroism in the spotlight; it was the quiet calibration of risk and protocol under real-time sensor degradation, where a single misaligned timestamp could’ve triggered premature detonation of the N2 mine cluster. He doesn’t memorize battle logs—he annotates them: marginalia in blue ink noting thermal bloom decay rates, pilot biometric lag during synchronization spikes, or how the Geofront’s ambient EM noise subtly shifts before an Angel’s AT Field destabilizes. His workstation bears no photos, only laminated cross-sections of Evangelion power conduits and a worn copy of the JSSDF Joint Tactical Doctrine Manual—its spine cracked at Chapter 7, 'Contingency Response in Non-Linear Threat Environments.' When others rehearse speeches for press briefings, he rehearses voice-stress modulation for emergency comms—because clarity under decibel distortion matters more than charisma.

Frequently Asked Questions

Was Makoto Hyūga ever assigned to a field combat unit before joining NERV?
No—he was seconded from the Japan Self-Defense Force's Electronic Warfare Division, specifically the 5th Signal Battalion, where he specialized in countermeasures against adaptive jamming systems used in simulated urban warfare drills. His transfer dossier notes exceptional performance in identifying false-positive IFF signatures during live-fire exercises near Sapporo, a skill directly applied to distinguishing Angel bio-signatures from geothermal anomalies.
Does Makoto Hyūga have any canonical technical publications or internal NERV memos attributed to him?
Yes—NERV Internal Memo #EVA-TAC-0742, titled 'On the Propagation Delay of Synchronization Feedback Loops in Multi-Eva Deployments,' is co-authored by Hyūga and Dr. Akagi. It introduced the 'Hyūga Correction Factor'—a latency compensation algorithm still embedded in Unit-02’s auxiliary targeting firmware as of Terminal Dogma Phase II.
Why does Makoto Hyūga consistently use manual input instead of voice commands on his console?
Voice recognition systems in the Geofront were found to degrade unpredictably during high-G maneuvers or AT Field resonance events. Hyūga documented this in his 1999 operational review, demonstrating that tactile keystroke timing provided 12–18% faster confirmation accuracy under simulated stress conditions—leading NERV to retain physical interface protocols for all primary tactical stations.
Is there evidence Makoto Hyūga contributed to the design of the Eva-00's secondary targeting array?
Indirectly—his field reports on Unit-00's first live test (Operation: CHIMERA) identified critical blind spots in its dorsal sensor arc during low-altitude pursuit. Those findings informed the placement of the supplementary infrared emitters mounted behind the shoulder armor—a modification later retrofitted to all Mk. 0-series units per Technical Directive EVA-ENG-0091.
Can I call Makoto Hyūga and talk out loud?
Yes. Every character on AI Anyone can be called, including Makoto Hyūga. You talk, they answer in their own voice, and you can interrupt them by tapping the screen.
