Both allowances run on a rolling 30 day window counted from your first call, not from the first of the calendar month. The free 20 minutes refresh when that window rolls, so free calling is something you can keep doing rather than something you use up once. Calling needs a free account because a call is a live session that has to be attached to somebody.

Pro is $20 a month. The biggest difference is voice: it takes calls from 20 minutes every 30 days to 240, and lets you choose the voice a character uses on your calls. It also keeps chat on the full model, raises courses to 50 a month, and gives you 100 read aloud listens every 30 days.
Yes. They refresh every 30 days, counted from your first call. This was a one time grant until 2026-08-17 and it is not one any more, so free calling is a standing part of the free plan rather than a sample.
Pro is billed monthly, or yearly where offered, at the price shown at checkout. Cancel anytime in Settings, then Billing, then Manage subscription. You keep Pro until the end of the period you already paid for, and you are not charged again.
The call ends and text chat keeps working, because chat is not metered by the minute. Your allowance returns when your 30 day window rolls, and upgrading raises the ceiling immediately rather than waiting for the window.
You can browse every character page without one. Chatting and calling both need a free account, calling because a live session has to be attached to somebody, and you confirm your birth year once before your first call.
