Privacy Policy
How we collect, use, and protect your information
Effective date: September 14, 2026
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your username and display name, your email address, your year of birth, and a profile image if you choose to provide one.
Conversation Content
When you chat with AI characters, we collect and store the content of those conversations, including the messages you send and the responses generated for you. We use this content to operate the service and to keep your conversation history available to you. Please do not share sensitive personal information (such as financial account numbers, government identifiers, or health details) in your conversations.
Voice Calls
If you call an AI character, your browser asks for microphone permission first and the character cannot hear you until you allow it. While a call is running we send your speech to service providers acting on our behalf, which convert it to text and generate the character's spoken reply. Voice is powered by our partner ElevenLabs. The resulting transcript is written into your normal chat history with that character, and we record the length of each call so we can meter your allowance. You can end a call at any time, and the microphone is released when you do.
AI Clones
If you build an AI clone of yourself, we collect the links you add and the text you paste, the readable text we fetch from those links (for a YouTube video, its title, description and the captions it already has), your confirmation that you own that material, and the persona we write from it. To write the persona, we send that material to the third-party AI service providers described under AI Processing. Your clone is named after you and shows your profile image if you have one. When other people chat with your clone, those conversations are stored in their accounts, and we keep usage counts for your clone and any feedback or reports people leave about it. What happens to all of this when you delete your clone or your account is described under AI Clones below.
Payment Information
When you subscribe to a paid plan, your payment is handled by a third-party payment processor. We receive limited billing details such as your subscription status and the last four digits of your card; we do not store full card numbers on our servers.
Usage and Device Data
As you use the service, we automatically collect usage and device data, such as the features you interact with, your preferences and settings, log data, your device and browser type, and general location inferred from your network address.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate, maintain, and provide the service to you
- Process payments and manage your subscription
- Improve the service, including the quality and safety of AI character responses
- Support safety and content moderation, and prevent abuse or misuse
- Communicate with you about your account and important updates
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service
3. AI Processing
The AI characters on this service are software, not real people. To generate character responses, we use third-party AI service providers that process the content of your conversations on our behalf. These providers act under contract and are permitted to use that content only to provide the processing service to us.
AI-generated responses are produced automatically and may not always be accurate. Do not rely on them as professional advice.
4. Memory
When you are signed in and chat with a character, that character keeps memories of the conversation: facts you share, your preferences, your goals, topics you return to, and how you said you felt. Each memory is stored with the conversation it came from, and it is used only to shape that character's replies to you.
Memories are stored in our database and may also be stored in a search index run by a service provider under contract. They are never used to train AI models, never shown to other users, and never sold.
A character also keeps a short summary of each conversation you have with it, written in its own words, describing what the two of you talked about and where you left off. When you come back to a conversation after a day or more, the character may open with a brief recap built from that summary and speak it back to you. Summaries and recaps are stored in our database, and on a Pro account the summary is also stored in the search index described above. Like your memories, they are never used to train AI models, never shown to other users, and never sold. Health, beliefs, sexuality and finances are left out of your memories and out of these summaries unless you turn that category on yourself.
You can see every memory a character holds about you, edit it, pin it, or delete it, from the memory panel inside the chat. Deleting a memory removes it from our database and from the search index, and it also removes any summary that was built from it, along with the recap built from that summary. That conversation is not summarised again unless you continue it, and if you do, only what is said afterwards is summarised. Summaries and recaps are also removed when you clear a character's memories, when you delete the conversation they describe, and when you delete your account. Deleting your account deletes every memory. To receive a copy of your memories, email support@aianyone.com.
When you turn sharing on, a memory you mark as shared can be used by any of your characters; nothing is shared until you do.
7. Retention
We keep your conversations and other personal information while your account is active.
When you delete your account, the deletion runs straight away. Your account, profile and uploaded profile image, conversations, memories, feedback you sent us, search history, notification subscriptions, clone waitlist entry and AI clone are deleted, as described in this policy. Characters and other content you published are no longer linked to your account and stay on AI Anyone without it.
A few records are kept after that, and used only for the reason they were kept: payment and subscription records, for as long as tax and accounting rules require; records of safety interventions, of reports and of actions we took on the account, for as long as we need them to handle safety, abuse and legal claims; usage and billing records; and the list of email addresses that asked not to be emailed, so that we do not email you again.
Deleted information can remain in our database backups and in content caches until they expire, which takes up to 30 days. Backups are used only to recover the service after a failure, and if we ever restore one, we delete again anything that was deleted after it was taken.
8. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Know and access: request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we hold about you
- Correct: ask us to correct inaccurate personal information
- Delete: ask us to delete personal information we have collected about you
- Portability: request a copy of your personal information in a portable format
- Opt out: we do not sell or share your personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of, but you may confirm this status at any time
- Non-discrimination: we will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights
To exercise any of these rights, email support@aianyone.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and you may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf.
We confirm that we received a request within 10 business days and complete it within 30 days. If we need longer, or cannot do what you asked, we tell you why within that time, and you can ask us to reconsider or complain to your local data protection authority. You can also delete your account yourself at any time in Settings, under Security.
California residents (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the rights described above under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act. In the preceding 12 months, we have collected the following categories of personal information: identifiers (such as username and email), customer records (such as billing details), commercial information (such as subscription history), internet and device activity (such as usage and log data), approximate geolocation inferred from your network address, and the content of your conversations. We collect this information from you and from your use of the service, and we use and disclose it for the business purposes described in this policy. We do not sell or share your personal information, and we do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that would require us to offer a right to limit it.
9. Users Outside the United States
AI Anyone is operated from the United States. If you access the service from outside the United States, your personal information will be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country. By using the service, you understand that your information will be handled as described in this policy.
If you are in a region with additional privacy rights, you may contact us at support@aianyone.com to exercise any rights available to you under applicable law.
10. Children Under 13
The service is intended for users 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@aianyone.com.
We also act on this without waiting to be asked. If a visitor who is not signed in tells us they are under 13, we refuse to create an account for them, we block chat, and we delete the personal information already stored for that visitor: their conversations and the messages in them, what characters had remembered about them, their learning and course progress, their streak and usage records, and their entry on any waiting list. We keep records of safety interventions, because a record of a safety intervention is the one thing we are expected to be able to produce afterward.
11. Teens 13 to 17
We knowingly hold personal information about people aged 13 to 17. An account is allowed from 13, chat is 18+, so a person can hold an account here and be a minor, and we know it because they told us their year of birth. This section says what that means for their information. It is in addition to the rights in section 8, not instead of them.
What we collect from a teen
The same account information as anyone else: username and display name, email address, year of birth, and a profile image if one is provided. Also the characters they build, the courses and activities they work through, and the usage and device data described in section 1. Where a person used the service before telling us their age, we may still hold conversations from that earlier period. We stop new ones rather than erasing what already exists, because a year of birth is self-declared and deleting on a mistyped one cannot be undone. A parent or guardian can have it removed, and the route is below.
Chat is off
A teen account cannot send messages to an AI character. Browsing characters, building characters, and taking courses stay available, so we continue to hold the information those features need.
No sale, no targeted advertising, no profiling
We do not sell or share a teen's personal information, we do not use it to target advertising at them, and we do not use it to build advertising or marketing profiles of them. We make that commitment to every user in section 8. It is repeated here because several state privacy laws attach it specifically to minors a service actually knows about, and we know about these.
Transactional email only
A teen account receives only the email the account itself needs: password resets, security alerts, billing and account notices, and replies to messages they send us. No marketing, no re-engagement, no promotional sequences.
How a parent or guardian exercises these rights
Email support@aianyone.com with the account's username or email address and tell us what you want: a copy of the information we hold, a correction to it, or deletion of the account and its data. We may need to verify the account and confirm your relationship to the person who holds it before we act, and we will tell you exactly what we need rather than leaving the request unanswered.
12. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including encrypted connections for data in transit and access controls on our systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the service after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
14. YouTube API Services
Some lessons in a generated course include a relevant video, and we find those videos using YouTube API Services. Videos play inside the official YouTube embedded player, with the video title and channel shown and a link out to watch on YouTube. We do not download, re-host, or modify any video, and we do not place advertising on pages that contain YouTube content.
By using the parts of the service that show YouTube videos, you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service. Google's handling of any data it collects when a video is embedded or played is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
What we store, and how to remove it
We store only the public identifiers and metadata the API returns for a video we attach to a lesson, such as the video ID, title, channel name, and thumbnail URL. We do not request access to your YouTube account, we do not ask you to sign in to Google to use this feature, and we never read your YouTube viewing history, subscriptions, or any other private YouTube data.
- Stored YouTube video data is deleted when you delete the course or lesson it belongs to.
- Deleting your account removes it along with the rest of your personal information, as described in Retention above.
- You can revoke any access an application has to your Google account at any time via the Google security settings page.
15. AI Clones
An AI clone on AI Anyone is always a clone of the account holder, built from material they confirm they own, and labeled as AI in every chat. This section covers what happens to a clone when you unpublish it, delete it, or delete your account.
Unpublishing
Unpublishing takes your clone offline: its share link stops working and it stops replying, but nothing is deleted, and you can relaunch it.
Deleting your clone
You can delete your clone from your clone dashboard without deleting your account. Deleting it removes:
- the links and text you built it from, and the persona we wrote from them
- its name, description, greeting, profile image link and the other details of the clone itself
- earlier versions of its persona, its share handles, and any posts or highlights that republished its replies
- the feedback people left about it
Its share link stops working and it can no longer reply to anyone. You can build a new clone later. We do not use the material you build a clone from to train AI models. A clone speaks in a voice picked from a catalog, so there is no recording or voice model of you to delete.
Deleting cannot be undone. To keep a copy of your clone's material first, email support@aianyone.com before you delete it.
What is kept, and why
Other people's conversations with your clone are part of their accounts, so they keep their own copy of those chats, including your clone's replies, until they delete them. Where one of those conversations, a report or a usage record still points at your clone, we keep an empty placeholder in its place, named Deleted AI clone, holding nothing from you. Reports about your clone and usage records tied to billing are kept for the reasons given under Retention.
Clone pages are kept out of search results, so there are no search listings of your clone to remove. Copies other people made, such as screenshots, are outside our control.
Deleting your account
Deleting your account deletes your clone in exactly the same way, together with the rest of your personal information as described under Retention.
A clone of you that you did not make
A clone can only be of the account holder who builds it. If you believe a clone or any other character uses your name, image, voice or likeness without permission, use the Report button in a clone's chat while signed in, or email support@aianyone.com, and we will review it and remove it where appropriate.
